INDEX OF DATES

Jan 23 - Blue Epoxy Coat 1 and Rail coat of epoxy.

This coat will be sanded. I am leaving the stem front clear.

I am leaving the rails, skeg, and transom natural.

Not seen here is the blue epoxy that keeps dripping on the floor. I may need to tape newspaper to the floor or somehting.

Mar 1 - Fancy Rails Worth the Work.

You can see the last 3 blocks being glued on and the first rail going on. There are about 40 blocks that had to be cut from cypress and glued individually. This was the most time consuming part of the rails.

The rails were glued on with minimal clampage, being careful to bend slowly so the knots in this cedar would not crack.

There you have it...well worth the work in the long term. Have now worked on this boat for a full 24 hours.

May 22 - Ready for Maiden Voyage

The boat is almost completely finished. The cleats need to be added and some areas need another coat of varnish and the bottom needs its final coat. I am itching to take is out though so I will soon. Notice how much dust has collected already.

Inside view of mast partner and step.

Here is the rudder (yes pintels). I think it rudder is gigantic overkill for this boat.

Here is the sail and mast. I cannot get the trailing edge of the sail to tighten up though for some reason.

Closer views of rigging. What am I doing wrong?
