King Buffet
StEpHeNp

This is my review of the new Chinese Buffet on Bluebonnet, KING BUFFET.

Note: King Buffet by the Mall of LA is not to be confused with China King Buffet by the Cortana Mall.

I heard decent things about this buffet, and so my parents, Jenna, and I decided to check it out. Upon arrival of this restaurant, I noticed the newness of the building and the crowd outside. We didn't have to wait long though, and we soon took our chinese buffet journey. The outside of the restaurant smelled like steak, and I discovered that the reason why it smelled this way is because the King Buffet featured sirloin steak!

When browsing the buffet, there were several things that caught my eye. The first thing I saw was the sirloin steak. Very aromatic. I also noticed a carve-your-own beef roast, peking duck, REAL SUSHI (slabs of fish over gummy rice), Raw oysters, boiled shrimp, crawfish, snow crab, stuffed crab, and scoop-your-own REAL ICE CREAM and SHERBET! And of course there were the traditional paper desserts, jello, and all the other normal chinese foods.

Hmm... all this stuff at a china buffet?? Gotta be gross. Can someone say "RF FROZEN BUFFET?"

Well.. I got me some lo mein, teriyaki chicken, steak, sesame chicken and some other stuff... for the first round.

The Sesame chicken was... on a scale of 1-5, a 4. It was good, about the same as Great Wall. The teriyaki chicken was a perfect 5. It was awesome. I got it twice. The steak wasn't perfect, but it was definately something to get if you go there. Very flavorful. the lo mein was average.

My second round, i decided to get a plate of non-typical foods, like the mystery dumpling, sushi, peking duck, roast beef, raw oysters, boiled shrimp, stuffed crab, and another teriyaki stick.

Dumpling: It was good. I didn't have to spit it out. ate the whole thing. Sushi: Eh... sushi isn't all it's hyped up to be. Raw salmon on rice. What's the point?

Peking Duck: Very tender. very good. the sauce is gross. don't eat the sauce. Roast Beef: cut off the fat, and you have one juicy piece of meat.

Raw oysters: After I got it, i decided not to eat it. it looked a little too slimy.

Boiled Shrimp: Excellent! normal sized, very well seasoned.

Stuffed Crab: It was pretty good.

I tried some other things such as Chicken with Broccoli, Fried Rice, sweet and sour chicken, mongolian beef, cheesy mushrooms, fried shrimp, and egg drop soup. All of these were exceptional!

I didn't get to try the ice cream or the pinnapple jello. Oh yeah and i got one of them beef ribs. gross.

We got the bill. The buffet is $10.99. This is a high price for chinese buffet, but the huge selection and the food quality makes the price LOW.

Tight-wads don't fret, the lunch buffet is $5.99 and includes drink.. You just won't get the steak, duck, and snow crabs.

Bottom-line: The dinner buffet is a little steap, but the food SURPASSES THE GREAT WALL IN QUALITY, SELECTION, AND PRICE (Lunch Buffet). I highly recommend this buffet over all other chinese restuarants, especially for lunch.]

If we ever feel bling blingin' for dinner, then this is great alternative over The Chimes every now and then. We oughta go there for lunch though.

StephenP's rating: 4.5 out of 5 stars.
